Wickham Park is large enough to support several very different outings. Brevard County describes 391 acres of open space, pine scrub and lakes in Melbourne, with a 1.3-mile paved pedway as well as hiking, biking and equestrian trails in undeveloped areas.
For a first visit, choose the kind of walk before choosing the distance. The paved route offers a more defined starting point; the undeveloped areas invite closer attention to habitat and trail conditions. The park is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, making a notebook or binoculars a useful alternative to another lap at exercise pace.

Check the county’s notices before planning around a specific facility. At publication, the park page still carried a playground closure notice and reported replacement of the A-loop campground restroom, shower and laundry building, with work expected through May 2027. Do not assume a listed amenity is currently available simply because it appears in the general directory.
The ranger station near the Parkway Drive entrance can help with current conditions and directions. Bring water, choose a manageable route and leave enough time to turn around without rushing.
